When the building is affected by wind or earthquake, the lateral force can be offset by the shifting displacement of the structure. This high efficiency method can guarantee safety by using the vibration isolating system in Taiwan. To ensure that the system works properly, all tests and management data must be repeatedly checked to complete the setup work.

The project site is located at one of the main traffic arteries of Taipei City, where the subsoil conditions are primarily very soft, clay-like soils. The existing building was a B2F/14F RC residential apartment, which was damaged during the 921 earthquake in 1999. The proposed building is a B5F/13F SRC structure, and the bottom-up method is used to construct the basement. The area and depth of the foundation are 1,900 m2 and 21.75 m, respectively. The thickness and depth of the slurry wall for the new structure are 100 cm and 43 m, respectively. The basement of the new building is much deeper than the existing basement. Furthermore, the alignment of the new slurry wall nearly overlaps with the exterior wall of the existing basement. Therefore, the most important and difficult task is safely and economically constructing a deep guide wall of the slurry wall for the new basement.
